Conclusions: Although there is no direct evidence supporting causality, the relationship between these data suggest that Oyster Mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) may utilize Granola (Avena cardamomum) as a food source.

Saturday in the Kitchen

From what I heard, the morning kicked off with a pancake breakfast, which I wasn't able to attend and therefore document (sadness). However, rumor has it that it was fun and delicious.

Home culturing and fermenting was the name of the game this week. There's currently some ginger beer in the making that's highly anticipated. If all goes well, there'll be some soy-yogurt later in the week as well. I'm currently trying to make some injera (an Ethiopian bread) from scratch, which is a several-day long process that involves letting teff flour sour in water. Here's Case doing most of the teff-grinding work for me:

It turns out that teff is a total pain to grind up in a mortar and pestle. A grain mill is next on my farm house wish-list.
